Big part of modern society has a problem with confidence. It’s very hard to go through life when you are weak and shy. Everything is difficult. Childhood, school, work and later marriage and family life might become a struggle or even a night mare. You need some self-confidence to be successful and go through life with a head up.
Many of professional athletes, bodybuilders or even movie stars we see on TV used to be small, weak or ugly. Very often they were shy, embarrassed about their bodies or had different life problems as teenagers. In many cases it’s the weight training that made them more confident and successful in life. Believe me, not everybody was sure of himself, strong and successful from the start.
What causes lack of confidence
Fortunately everybody can build up their confidence and I’ll try to give you an idea how to do that. First we have to state why anybody is shy, fearful, depressed, weak and fearful. What is causing it? There are few main reasons:
- Decreased production of testosterone by their body,
- Lack of vitamins and minerals (malnutrition),
- General weakness of the body or muscles,
- Bad appearance (not attractive look),
- Excessive consumption of alcohol,
- Pornography addiction,
- Bad people in our life – so called friends.
You can also lose confidence after certain life issues like being dumped by girlfriend or a boyfriend, but this is just life. It happens to everybody and you simply have to go through it. You’ll find better partner in the future and completely forget about the past problems. This is just life.
How to become more confident
To reverse the situation we have to make sure to eliminate causes that can make us feel bad on a first place.
1. Increase the production of hormones
The main problem of lacking confidence is decreased production of testosterone by the body. Testosterone makes us more confident, it turns us into a man – physically and mentally. If your body doesn’t produce enough of this substance you will be feeling worse, weak, unsure of yourself.
Women’s body also produces testosterone, only not in such a high amounts. So even if you are a female and also have deficiency in this hormone, it will cause similar symptoms. You basically need it to feel strong.
I’ve already written long article about how to increase production of anabolic hormones. Take your time and read it. In most cases this is all you need to solve your problem and become more confident for life.
2. Eat more vitamins and minerals
Healthy diet is extremely important in life, especially in modern society when we eat more and more junk food each year. Microelements (vitamins and minerals) are essential for the proper functioning brain and body. Any deficiency will cause problems. Some problems will be related to body like infections or often fractures where others can cause mental health issues like depression, anxiety or loss of confidence. The worst is when we have everything at once.
It is hard to replenish deficiencies straight away – in a one day. To get a permanent result you have to make a permanent change. The best way to do it is simply including nutritious product in your daily menu. Examples of food rich in minerals and vitamins:
- Vegetables – especially raw or in a form of salads for example,
- Healthy oils (olive oil, avocado, cod liver oil, fatty fishes).
Don’t try to eat everything at once because you will fail. Just make a habit of eating handful of nuts as a snack every day, fruit for a dessert, raw vegetable salads with your diner along with extra virgin olive oil on top of it. Include salmon or mackerel in your weekly shopping and try avocado.
If you have a problem with providing enough micronutrients you can also buy some multivitamin. It will help a bit but it will never replace the real food.
3. Get stronger
I believe one of the best ways to become more confident is to become stronger. To do this, simply try our GetStrong Workout. It’s a great strength routine for men and women which will transform you completely – mentally and physically. You will not recognize yourself after.
Although bodybuilding routines are also great for improving your health and have many benefits I know many people who have really big muscles but are still not so confident. Strength training is much more effective in this subject.
4. Lose weight
Too much body fat is toxic. Obese people have much estrogens in their body. These are female hormones that work opposite to testosterone. They make us weaker and less confident.
Besides, if you carry too much fat you might not look attractive for yourself what has also negative impact on your self-esteem.
5. Take care of yourself
Sometimes we are too lazy to take care about ourselves. But remember that when we look better we feel better. Besides losing weight you can also:
- Cut your hair,
- Buy some new clothes,
- Get some tan,
- Do your nails, facial, etc. if you are a woman.
Your appearance is very important, not as much for other people but for yourself. Some refreshment in your wardrobe and visit to a hair-dresser or beautician might boost your self-confidence straight away.
6. Cut down on drinking alcohol
How does alcohol make us feel? One of its effects is increasing our confidence. Very often way too much what cause us to do things we usually wouldn’t do without it.
When we drink often we get use to feeling more confident. But when we are sober we feel kind of unsecure, we are not us brave and chatty as when we are drunk. It often leads some people to addiction, where they need to drink to be confident.
The best option in this case is to cut down on alcohol a bit. You don’t have to become a pioneer, just learn to cope without it most of the time.
7. Stop watching pornography
Watching pornography often destroys our relationships with opposite sex. After a while it makes us treat others just like sexual objects, not like human beings. But that is not really our subject.
Porn actors are usually looking perfect – they are beautiful, well-build, shaved, etc. Whether we want it or not we always compare ourselves to them and 9 times out of 10 we look worse. After watching adult movies over and over again for years we can develop serious low self-esteem, problems with relationships and often unhappy sexual-life.
Remember that actors meant to look better. They wear tons of make-up and are beautified for the movie purpose. There are special lights, expensive cameras, editing software and other things that make them look more attractive than in real life. Most of normal people don’t look like that naked.
Remember that there is as many better looking people in life as worse looking than you. However the best thing to do is to eliminate this type of entertainment from your daily activity. It will increase your self-esteem and help you to build better relations with others.
8. Get rid of ass-holes from your life
I believe most of us have so called ‘friends’ that always try to bring us down. They constantly find faults in our appearance, face, body, posture, way of speaking, laughing, etc… They always see the weakest muscle group in our body instead compliment us about the best.
If you steady listen to someone who tells you how bad you look or how wrong you are, it might cause some serious problems with your confidence, whether you believe them or not.
If you are not mentally strong to listen to this kind of criticism all the time and ignore it, you should minimize spending time with this kind of people. I am not advising you to completely end your friendships, we can’t just run away from everybody who is bad to us, instead we should be getting smarter and stronger to be able to deal with this kind of problems.
Most of people can increase their self-confidence very easily. But it takes time and requires a first step. In my opinion strength training is the best tool for improving self-esteem both in men and women. It sorts out 80% of the reasons listed above. The best and the simplest way to train is our GetStrong Workout. It will:
- Increase the production of ‘feel good’ hormones,
- Make you stronger, fitter and better looking,
- Help you to burn fat.
If you stick also to the proper nutrition – it doesn’t have to be 100% right – you shouldn’t have any deficiencies.
Take care about your appearance, eliminate from your life the rest of the reasons that might cause lack of confidence and try to smile more. Keep in mind that there is as many better as worse looking people than you out there, very often with much bigger problems.
Once you’ll become more confident don’t act cocky, arrogant or aggressive. Don’t be the person who brings other people down. Be nice and help others instead. Everything you do comes back to you at the end in life, good or bad.
